Gas is just too expensive here!

Gas in Houston - after hurricane IKE - is just $3.43 to $3.79 for 87 octane. But it's too expensive because you have to search for a gas station that's open, then you have to wait in line for 5 hours to get gas! Because of this, and since I'm unemployed - I've gone everywhere using my Trek 2.1 Pilot SPA and Burley Nomad! Did about 50 miles so far!

And I'mm suffering too! My electricity is out!

How expensive and rare is gas in your city?

Re: Gas is just too expensive here!

Almost all of the Cincinnati area is out. Gas jumped from $3.53 to $4.15 in that time frame. No power = no gas pump.

I have to try and stretch my gas to this weekend. I have 1/4 tank right now.

Re: Gas is just too expensive here!

We have been at $4.199 since Monday for 87 octane. Haven't seen any stations closed. I will have to fill on Friday.

Re: Gas is just too expensive here!

Gas is around the $4.25/gallon level up from pre-Ike prices of ~$3.60/gallon. All stations are open.

Re: Gas is just too expensive here!

Gas in the Charlotte, NC area is still at $3.89.9-$4.099 with many stations being closed for a few days when they can't get deliveries. The state has supenoed many gas stations for a price gouging investigation. I am just wondering what kind of effect we are going to feel from the $16 that crude went up yesterday.

Re: Gas is just too expensive here!

I saw a station tonight that had raised its price from $3.989 this morning to $4.289 tonight. I think an increase of $.30 a gallon is ridiculous. This puts our gas prices at about $.10 a gallon higher than they were during the time crude was at its high of $147. a barrel.
