First place I would look would be at the pcv valve and check the body or gasket for a leak.

Thumper, I have an 08 Veracruz. Can you elaborate on why you needed a new cable? Is the OBD2 plug different? Was the original cable defective? I have an SGii in my WRX and would like to get only an additional cable so I can use the SGii in the Hyundai, too. Thanks!

I hope you get this problem resolved with your dealer. FYI I also have a 2007 Vibe [Toyota Matrix clone]. I plugged in the scanguage back in April and haven't had any trouble.

Showbizk,
You should have no cable issues with an 08. Hyundai was non-compliant with the way the wired the vechicle side of the OBD plug. This was discovered and corrected some time in 2003. Only some of 2003 and earlier models were affected. I suggest calling Liner Logic to make certain, but I have not heard any issues with any Hyundai 2004 and later. Even some of the earlier models work fine without a different cable. LL told me that they just had to rearrange some pin postions in the standard cable for mine to work.

I thought they disabled some of the pins, not re-arranged? Oddly, they got it right for the 99 model as mine has never had any issues.

Re: Dealer says ScanGauge ruined my PCM and I can't use ScanGauge anymore

No one guessed it.

So, the cause was a vacuum leak .... in the hydro-booster (power brake booster) of all things. After spraying the entire engine to try and find the leak, they finally heard it near the brake booster.

So, in this whole process my car got:

- A new ScanGauge unit (and solid proof they are a great company)
- 4 brand new fuel injectors
- New O2 sensors
- New PCM
- A free cleaning of my mass air flow sensor
- And a clean engine since it was fully sprayed with carb cleaner.... lol

I need to go to your dealer. I would probably leave with a new car.

Re: Dealer says ScanGauge ruined my PCM and I can't use ScanGauge anymore

i have an uncle that worked at GM until he retired, so all his sibs get the employee discount. After years of seeing the lemons that my mom and aunt have saddled themsevles with and poor service at GM dealer repair shops, I gotta say that I don't care how good the Volt is or anything that GM ever produces for that matter - I will never ever ever buy a GM car.
