Forgive me for I have sinned

I heard that someone did a 121 in the mpg challange and I was saying "I don't know if wayne can beat that." Then the wind picked up and I doubted some more. Finally a down pour. Now I was confident he wouldn't do it.

Okay so my sin. Wayne ended up maxing the display at 150.

I think I owe wayne a month of gas or something as penance.

Re: Forgive me for I have sinned

Hi Guys:

___Believe me, it was the fact Billy loaned me his perfect Insight and Linda’s (HF 2006 Coordinator of almost everything) hypermiling course. Not only was I driving the absolutely most pristine and capable Insight in the entire world, that course was the best FE course I have ever and I mean ever had the opportunity to drive. It included long undulating hills that seemed to go on forever. Better then Pittsburgh given there were very few lights except for right near the HF2006 grounds themselves. The rain and the strong head winds came about on the last 1.25 miles of the course while in a FAS down a super long downhill into a light so it did not take much from Billy Insight’s at all. God is his Insight Sweet with a capital S! Anyone with an extremely well setup Insight, a little training, and some rather large Cajone’s would be punching out 120 + after just a few minutes. I have to thank Bradlee again for the use of his Insight during the Tour Del Sol to help me figure out the rates and ranges as it made all the difference when I got behind the wheel of Billy’s magnificently maintained and extremely well setup Insight 5-speed. I do not think Billy enjoyed bringing his Insight up under Forced Charge from 3 Bars of SoC this morning but that should have lasted just 5 minutes after he began his trek back to Washington State

___I cannot wait to take Linda and her CVT based 06 Insight out on that course the next time the Madison Hybrid Group has a gets together. I think she is going to be shocked as to what she is going to be able to achieve with a little help and I am talking big numbers out of a CVT.

___Linda, remind me to bring the SG-II up for that one as we might just need it given the Insight’s FCD limitations!

___Good Luck

___Wayne

Well you may remember me predicting 135 for Wayne after my MPG run. I wasn't concerned about the rain because the last portion was downhill. Congrats to the Master! I doubt if there could be a better hypermiling course to be found anywhere. Twas a priveledge to compete. I was happy with my 99.9.

Re: Forgive me for I have sinned

Hi Dan:

___Thanks for the vote of confidence You were right about that course, truly stupendous for hypermiler’s.

___I just took Chuck out for an Insight Clinic in his 5-speed and we pegged the FCD out again over 13.1 + RT miles. It wasn’t nearly as easy as we were back and forth in the 145 – 150.0 range until the last 3 or so miles. We had all his luggage, him, and I including the A/C equipped Insight and the right passenger seat. I am really starting to miss my Insight right about now as you can imagine I think Billy’s Insight was pushing into the 160 - 170 mpg range and Chuck’s was in the 152 - 157 mpg range as we pulled back into my drive a few minutes ago. Linda’s CVT based Insight is going to be fun to play with on that course if she is still willing.

___And about that 99.9. Dan, you want to tell them what you nailed via Scan Gauge reading? It was the Marathon days all over again

___Good Luck

___Wayne

Re: Forgive me for I have sinned

can you guys give details what the course was like? how many lights? stops? and fas points do you guys get to do? and the average speed throughout the whole course? does it not have a uphill portion? haha that's kinda cheating then isn't it :P? a good course must have all the elements of real world traffic conditions
