Re: REVIEW: Hymotion Battery Plug-In Prius
Well since I said I would fill up on October 12th I figure I better tell you my results. I actually filled up on the 11th because my preferred gas station is closed on Sundays.
Anyway here are the numbers.
1275 Miles
7.862 Gallons of gas @3.199/gal
210.403kWh @ 8 cents per kWh
162.2MPG
Cost is 3.3 cents per mile on this tank.
According to my CAN-View I could have gone another 400-500 miles before I needed to fill up.
I'm finishing up the review and should have the final draft ready in the next week or two. I'm sure you all have a lot of questions and I'm sure my final review will answer most of them. If you have any questions just post them here and I will try to answer them.

How much did this one tank raise your lifetime mpg average on cleanmpg?

Wow! Very impressive Jay! In your review, are you calculating savings/payback time? Looks like you will be very capable of a 2K tank.

Re: REVIEW: Hymotion Battery Plug-In Prius
With the gas and elec numbers above, you'd need to do 625,000 miles to recover $10,000 battery cost over a std Prius.
At $4/gal and national average electricity (10 cents), you get 6.1 and 4.1 cents/mile. Which would be about 500,000 miles to break even.
My electric rates here are horrendous (19.5 cents/kwh; including all the weird taxes and charges). Fuel is the same @ $3.20.
That gives a 5.2 cents a mile cost here for this PHEV. A standard Prius, at that gas cost (and 65mpg) is 4.9 cents.
I'd need 17.9 cents/Kwh to beat $3.20 gal gas. Or, $3.50 gas (last week?) for electric to work (PHEV with these figures) on operating costs, anyway.
No easy answers.

Re: REVIEW: Hymotion Battery Plug-In Prius
Just to let everyone know I'm still working of the final writeup. There is a lot to type out, organize, spllcheck, organize again, read everything, correct mistakes, read again, add some more stuff, and correct more mistakes. I haven't had much time to work on it but with any luck I hope to have it done by the end of October.

Hi Jay:
___You should have access to the draft forum at the bottom of the Information section. If you do, post your draft there and I can start inserting all the pics I uploaded for it last month.
___Good Luck
