Coming from someone who's successfully transported an armoire
and a dresser from Seattle to Portland
with the hatch fully closed (among many other cargo feats) in a Honda Civic wagon, I'd say that looks a bit tight.
Still, ya run what ya brung. If a Smart is what I had, I'd sure at least
try to fit the couch in the Smart before borrowing someone else's rig.
