Hello! what a cool forum topic !
I have to admit I was really skeptical of the mileage claims made by the hypers. but since I am on the road all day everyday as a messenger and am always open to trying new things I thought, why not give it a try?
My car is a 1991 dodge colt with a 4 cylinder mitsubishi motor and 4 spd manual shifter with an estimated fuel economy at around 30 mpg highway and city combined, not to bad.
I bought it from a next door neighbor for nine hundred dollars. it had only 60,000 miles, not bad for a car that old, plus no rust!
It did not run that well, but I was still able to get low thirties out of it as is. I ended up putting about 400 dollars into it,
( about the amount of one payment on a new prius

) It needed a new distributer and CV axle. Then it was good to go!
my mileage was boosted immediately to the high 30s ! i was very happy with that and would have been content to stay there.
Well, I put into practice some the tips here today and drove 180 miles and only used 3.7 gallons! that comes out to 48.64 miles per gallon! And this isn't just highway driving either, I did quite a few deliveries in town, plus was caught in slow rushhour traffic for close to a half an hour!
I am hoping with better traffic conditions and more practice, plus learning more from others here I can break into the 50s!
