1996 Dodge Neon - PSI in the 40's?

Hello, I have recently added 8 PSI to my tires. They are up from 32 (Recommended) to 40 which is 42 when they are warmed up. You were right about the ride being a bit bumpier, but I noticed the difference in coasting. Anyways, does anyone know what the MPG will increase by? Actual numbers or percentage? I was getting 28 all city last gas tank, just filled up and thought I would try to air up the tires as well. Hope I am increasing my FE because gas here in CT is around $4.30 now! Please let me know!

You will gain much more through traffic anticipation than you will through quick fixes like airing up tires. My guess would be maybe 1%-5% but someone else might have more than a guess.

I brought my wife's (non-hybrid) Escape tires up from 35psi to 48psi and didn't tell her. She had been getting tanks in the high 17's to low 18's. That jumped to high 20's/low 21s.
