Beer now cheaper than gas?

Just thought about this. In Kentucky you can get a 30 pack of Keystone Light for like 12 bucks.

Figure this--at $11.99, I could get 30 cans of Keystone Light, which is 360 ounces. That's just short of 3 gallons in fact (384 ounces).

Crunching the numbers meant it costs $4.263 a gallon for beer.

Gas in Northern Kentucky is hovering at about $4.099 a gallon but I know it's higher in many places now.

Beer is now cheaper than gas.

Besides, it only takes maybe two gallons to fill my tank. The car takes much, much more unfortunately. And considering it would take gas to drive to the store... heh...

Keystone Light? What? That's like water!

Once one of those hard liquors are cheaper than gas, then it's time to start looking into getting a car running on it. Kind of like ethanol.

Re: Beer now cheaper than gas?

I would just like to point out that water has been more expensive than gasoline for a long time:
$1.50 for 1 litre of name-brand Bogus Spring Water = $5.69/gal....

As soon as someone can figure out how to make a Fleischmann's-Vodka-powered car, that would solve both the energy crisis and the bad booze crisis. I mean, it could run on the permanent-marker-like fumes for months.

Re: Beer now cheaper than gas?

So for each gallon of gas I save by hypermiling, I can buy at least a gallon of beer. Now, that's incentive!

I don't normally inflict these on people, but Lamebums really needs to see this one:

LOL.

I actually agree. But Keystone's the best cheap beer out there. Believe me it's better than Nati or PBR...

And as to the Miller, eh, it has a bitter after-taste. Was never a fan.

Bud Light is another story
