Re: Scangauge IGN value

Hi Al:

___I do not bother looking at Load via SG in the Prius’ anymore because the number is swinging around like Tarzan on a vine. IG14 and TPS at 18 w/ SoC at 58.5% or higher SoC (confirmed Dan’s tips wrt that!) when you can hold it and RPM’s in the 1,200 to 1,300 range. For downhill’s, if your SoC is < 60, move to an IG15/TPS 17 at 150 – 200 mpg + vs. WS. Above 60, hold WS until you near 60% and add a little regen to move yourself comfortably above 60 + again if it is availed to you?

___Good Luck

___Wayne

Re: Scangauge IGN value

Okay, as a possibly helpful exercise I threw together a page
showing the ACTUAL throttle position over a range of reported
TPS values -- hooked up the laptop/scantool and sat it on the
inverter, set up a small tripod straddling the engine and
radiator brace and held the spring fitting open to the right
values while firing away. *Almost* got all the pix lined up
the same, but midway through there was a minor bump to the tripod.
.
I would say the throttle doesn't get what I'd call "substantially
open" till about 60%, and I don't think anyone EVER sees that
in a Prius.
.
