NEED some fast information please Can a 4door metro do over 40mpg?without hypermiling
I need some fast info. REAL info ie NO hypermiling NO wishful results REAL hard results.
I am looking to buy a METRO as an economy car. I have ONE condition. it MUST be capable of 40mpg OR BETTER sustained WITHOUT hypermiling or modifications STOCK.
Off course I hope to hypermile the bugger to well over 50mpg but I need something that can DO 40mpg or better without trying.
I KNOW the 1.0 metro can do this and even 50mpg stock.
I just found a 96 4 door 1.3l 4cylinder metro VERY affordably.
DOES anyone HAVE this car and IS it capable of getting 40mpg with NO hypermiling at all? IE get it in and drive it on the highway will it reliably exceed 40mpg or not?
I would rather wait and or pay more than take an unsure chance. I NEED better than 40mpg to start with.
ALSO if anyone has experience WILL I fit. I am a big fellow 6'4" I DO fit in the 2 door hatchback metro (found a 95 local and checked I do in fact fit just fine)
If I fit that will I also fit the 4door? (I ask because for example I DO fit in a VW beetle but CAN NOT fit in a jetta or golf (ceiling too low)
This car is not precisely local so I want to have as much information before I burn the gas to go find out :-)
Anyone driven one of these and is your experience post or pre ethanol?
Thanks!

Another good place for feedback on Metros is ecomodder.com. Those guys love Metros. Heck some of the guys even horde them.

You can look up the EPA estimates of the Metro at www.fueleconomy.gov

don't get the 1.3. Wait and get an XFi version. You will be much happier.
