Scangauge reads .08 GPH when ICE is off

I'm not sure if this is just a calibration issue... shouldn't gph read 0.0 when the engine is off no matter if the SGII is calibrated or not? I haven't gone through enough gas to accurately calibrate it yet but I'm confused as to why it would show that. Is that normal?

EDIT: I mean't .08 gph

Re: Scangauge reads .8 GPH when ICE is off

It may be that the car is no longer sending data and the 0.8GPH is the last value that was received. My FEH key must be in the RUN position to get any data from the network.

It will read the last valid value out of the ECM, in many cases.
Yep, normal.

Re: Scangauge reads .8 GPH when ICE is off

Ok, sounds reassuring I suppose, but my idle gph with the enigne on is always above .32 gph sometimes in the .4x range. Doesn't that sound high for a Saturn?

One other thing: When I'm in a fas (with the key in "run" position), it stays at .08 gph also... which means my MPG is some where in the 400's or so at around 35 mph, shouldn't it be going up to the max (9999 mpg)?

Actually, you know what, thats impossible because it read .08 gph when I first plugged it in to the car before I even turned it on. So theres no way it could have been notified by the enigine of a "previous value". Unless of course my car's computer is outputting the previous value from it's memory... any ideas?

Re: Scangauge reads .8 GPH when ICE is off

Something is way wrong here. I'm not sure I can get my GPH that high if I try. Double-check all the settings - engine size, speed offset, fillup offset, fuel cut threshhold... You might do best to restore defaults and re-setup everything.

Re: Scangauge reads .8 GPH when ICE is off

ok hold up here. I think it's .08.... not .8 sorry.

And .32 - .4x

lemme change that...

But, still I think somethings not right. Sorry for that mistake, I've probably confused everyone by now.

Re: Scangauge reads .8 GPH when ICE is off

Ah, that's normal, then. Mine reads .3 and sometimes .2 when warmed up.

Check the DFCO cutoff point, maybe. My sg is older and doesn't have that, so I can't be sure.

Re: Scangauge reads .8 GPH when ICE is off

I don't know if my car has dfco. Would someone else know if a 97 sw2 does? When I take my foot off the gas pedal gph remains at about what my idle fuel consumption is.

Re: Scangauge reads .8 GPH when ICE is off

2 things going on: Does your car have DFCO, and how is the SG reporting it. At best, it's just reporting an estimate.

First one - Do a coast-down test in gear with the ignition on. Then repeat the same test in gear with the ignition off - leave it off. If the results are similar, you do have Decel Fuel Cutoff. If the ign-on coasts farther, it's still injecting fuel.

Second: check the Scangauge manual for adjusting how it reports this.
