Small trailer
This trailer had originally started as a harbor freight 40x48 trailer.
http://www.harborfreight.com/1090-lb...res-90153.html
I had bought it and was 'shrinking it' to tow behind my motor cycle for gear when going camping. Well I sold the bike and the trailer project halted and was tucked into the back of the garage.
So here it is:
I chopped the axle and narrowed it down a bit, and put on an aluminum belly pan
The cargo carrier will mount to the deck, after I put a deck on it.
Still have to put the fenders on and the lights too.
Should tuck in nice behind the xB and probably come in at under 250 pounds loaded with clothes, dog food, etc

Re: Small trailer
Got the fenders and lights on. Next trip into Jackson I'll get a piece of diamond plate for the deck.

Re: Small trailer
now that I have the diamond plate bed on, I get online to find a spare tire for it, I see this:

Oh well. Got the trailer and the cargo carrier for free so I wont have half that price in it.

Re: Small trailer
aerodynamics wise i think the box on the trailer would be better if flipped around...pointy end to the back! Kind of works like a boat tail.

Re: Small trailer
Hi James:
Have you used it for any long haul yet?
While on the road the past few days with the Passat TDI, I saw a TN based Prius towing a similar home made trailer without the shell but simply bungied on gear. It looked like it worked really well for that driver.

Re: Small trailer
I ran it on a test run on my normal drive into Jackon and back one day. Did fine, couldnt even tell it was there.
We wont be going to FL until mid-winter sometime. Doubt I will use it until then.
Also wondering if I should put the stock springs back on the rear of the car before we go instead of the TRD lowering springs. Thinking I should. Car will have 2 adults, a 90lb Black Lab and a 60 LB Akita mix, plus the trailer with clothes/dog food/etc.

Re: Small trailer
I have a 4'x6' trailer for my prius. I use it all the time. I have taken it on a 400 trip. Works great. Gives about a 5-7 MPG hit though.
