Virginia driver 7yrs later told to change plate
Driver told he can't have "FOSAMA" on his plate.
The driver put a period after the F, which probably resulted in someone reporting him as having an offensive plate according to their guidelines.
Article states he had this plate for seven years.
Driver got plates that he sent back: 6668UP
For me personally, I don't want to add to my tailgating problems.

Re: Virginia driver 7yrs later told to change plate
F.OSAMA is what he had on his plates, the alternate spelling works for me too
The left and bureaucrats have no sense of humor.

Interesting that its on a United We Stand plate too. I don't see any problems with it.

Re: Virginia driver 7yrs later told to change plate
I'm surprised it got through in the first place.
I know the Maine BMV tries to avoid anything that people would find obscene and however it's spelled the plate says '"**** Osama" so it wouldn't be approved.
^^
EDIT Oh look, censored.

Re: Virginia driver 7yrs later told to change plate
What gets me is Virginia decides that F.OSAMA is not allowed, but this is ok?

Maybe not if you complained to them about it.
Basically, people apply for a vanity plate and somebody has to decide. If the person reviewing doesn't get to view the license number against the plate image they could easily miss something like that.

Re: Virginia driver 7yrs later told to change plate
If I might point out the obvious, the year sticker on that plate was issued four years ago and the photo must be at least three years old. Is there reason to believe the plate is still in use?

Re: Virginia driver 7yrs later told to change plate
A friend has a pic of it on their Myspace page. After checking on the DMV website, the combination is listed as "not available" instead of "already taken", so this plate must have been revoked.
