CleanMPG Reviews the 2013 Mazda CX-5
While the Crossover continues to improve, none have quite matched the CX-5's ability to save at the pump.

Re: CleanMPG Reviews the 2013 Mazda CX-5

Hi Jbenzene:

In the US, the 6 is the Mazda scheduled to receive the 2.2L SKYACTIV-D first. AND I so much hope that to be the case… There is a little WR that needs to be taken out and it’s the car that is scheduled to do just that. Whoops, I did not say that did I

I'd vote for a Mazda3 with Skyactiv-D and the supposedly upcoming lighter body. Waiting for such a miracle to appear in the U.S. might take too long, though.

Re: CleanMPG Reviews the 2013 Mazda CX-5

Hi All:

While we all wait for the CX-5 with the SKYACTIV-D to arrive (probably in 2014 as a 2015), I have received (2) e-mails from the Mazda folks running the 2014 Mazda6 Long Lead in the Phoenix area scheduled for late January that the 2014 CX-5 with the all-new 2.5L SKYACTIV-G will be a part of the reveal and drive program as well.

2014 Mazda6 and CX-5’s 2.5L SKYACTIV-G

I doubt the stick will be available with the 2.5L but I sure would like to give the CX-5 another drive. One of my favorite vehicles given the size, utility and fuel efficiency.

Not sure if the more powerful yet still effcieint all-new 2.5L SKYACTIV-G engine on top of the all-new 2.0L SKYACTIV-G engine we drove this past spring will offer up yeet another 60 mpgUS result but we’ll see…

I spoke with one of Mazda’s top US Exec’s at the LA Auto Show last week and he is still “hopeful” that the 192 HP SKYACTIV-G engine in the beautiful 2014 Mazda6 will match or even beat the 2013 Altima’s 38 mpgUS highway rating.

The 2013 Mazda CX-5 picked up yet another accolade in Japan earlier this week which I will try and post when ("if") I get home by tomorrow morning...

Re: CleanMPG Reviews the 2013 Mazda CX-5

Hi All:

While I was in California the past week and a half, the CX-5 was busy racking up the awards…

The 2013 Mazda CX-5 was today named the "Most Earth-Friendly" Truck of the Year for 2013 by Earth, Wind & Power (EWP) Media. The award was presented to Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). In its fifth year, the mission of the EWP Awards is to honor vehicles that are driven by a power source that helps improve climate change by reducing the amount of CO2 emissions entering the Earth's atmosphere, promote a cleaner environment and support the ultimate mission to achieve energy independence through alternative power sources.

Mazda was also presented with the "2013 SUV of the Year for the Americas" award for the 2013 CX-5 by the Federacion Internacional de Periodistas del Automovil (International Federation of Automotive Journalists) (FIPA).

Headquartered in Guatemala, the annual FIPA awards are chosen by members of the Interamerican Automotive Journalists Federation (IAJP), which touts members in more than 20 countries. Awards are named in three categories - Car, SUV and Pilot (motorsports driver) - with each category featuring the top 10 contenders in that class. The Car of the Year award is in its twelfth year, the Pilot of the Year award in its eleventh and SUV of the Year is the latest addition with its seventh appearance on the ballot. The 2013 CX-5 bested its nine category competitors.
