The Green Grand Prix is a rally featuring the latest advanced technology automobiles that not only provide relief at the pump but offer a solution to any number of ills we are currently experiencing due to the fuel we consume to move from point A to point B and back again.
This past weekend, the 2012 “Toyota Green Grand Prix” was conducted around a two-stage road rally while attendees were entertained with seminars and displays from a number of manufacturers and vendors.
The Green Grand Prix had a stand-alone rally segment on each day, providing registered drivers of alternate-fueled vehicles, hybrids and traditional gasoline-powered and diesel-powered vehicles a challenge to go head to head with one another.
Friday’s segment of the Doris Bovee Memorial Road Rallies was a 130 mile fuel economy event run in its entirety on the 2.45-mile short course at Watkins Glen. On Saturday, the second stage of the fuel economy rally moved to public roads for another 140 miles.
Both segments were conducted at what the organizers called highway speeds and the results were exemplary.
