Towing BOAT with Ford Escape Hybrid

Hi everyone

We just bought a 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid AWD. It has the 2.5L 4 Cyl with Electric Motor. We are looking at buying a 1996 Four Winns 170 Bowrider boat and it weighs about 2000 pounds. I realize it is rated at only 1000, but have read in many places that it is OK just to go to and from the boat ramp (15 minutes on backroads). Anyone have any experience towing boats with their FEH's?

I have heard of other FEH owners that have towed 2,000 pounds. The only remark made was try not to reverse against an incline, as Reverse is electric only.
