Hybrid Vehicle Owners across America are Pumped Up over Hybridfest 2007.

Bill Robbins - Hybridfest Inc. - April 12, 2007

Hybridfest 2007 – Absolutely the greatest gathering of HEV and AFV owners and enthusiasts the world over.

Madison, WI - On the heels of its inaugural year success, Hybridfest, Inc. announces that Hybridfest 2007 will expand this year to two full days, July 21–22, 2007. The Midwest’s largest event dedicated to clean and sustainable transportation solutions will again be held on the grounds of the Dane County Fair in Madison, WI. Public admission to Hybridfest 2007 will be included with a Dane County Fair ticket, which includes free parking. This year, most events will be held in the air-conditioned comfort of the Alliant Energy Center.

Although hybrid electric vehicles are showcased, Hybridfest 2007 will expand to examine all aspects of clean and fuel-efficient transportation including ethanol, biodiesel, hydrogen and plug-in hybrid vehicles. In addition, important issues such as global warming, air quality, oil dependency and fuel and energy conservation will be discussed. Car dealers and manufacturers, environmental groups, vendors and exhibitors will also be on hand to demonstrate and answer consumer questions.

Last summer, the Wisconsin State Journal noted, “Oil companies should be very afraid by the mileage achieved by those coming to Hybridfest 2006.” Last year, Hybridfest 2006 brought more than 160 hybrid vehicles from 21 states and Canada, with owners ranging from 17 to 78 years of age. Over the 20-mile MPG Challenge course, unmodified hybrid vehicles achieved fuel efficiencies ranging from 73 MPG to 150 MPG. During the one-day event, more than 2,500 Dane County Fair attendees toured the Hybridfest grounds and participated in discussions with hybrid owners, dealers and vendors.

In a post–Hybridfest 2006 survey, 100% of attendees reported having enjoyed the experience, 94% would return again and 90% learned valuable information. In the survey of Hybridfest vendors, 71% felt it was a good value and 70% stated their goals were met. Given these positive results, the decision was made to expand Hybridfest 2007 to include two full days.

World Changing stated that, “If enthusiasm is any indication, Hybridfest achieved its purpose”. Hybrid bloggers across the Internet have come to think of Hybridfest as their home, the place to come every year for camaraderie and learning. As a Hybridfest 2006 attendee said, “It’s great to finally put faces on the screen names you see on the net.” Hybridfest 2007 calls hybrid owners home to Madison again this year, expanding its reach to educate and inform the public.

Hybridfest, Inc. is a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers. Hybridfest promotes awareness and understanding of hybrid electric vehicles and other fuel efficient vehicles, and their positive environmental impact.
