Is a Fusion Hybrid for me ?

I am looking into getting either a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid or a 2013 Fusion EcoBoost. I currently drive about 10-12k a year. My work commute is about 2 miles. And the farthest i will drive for work (to other buildings) would be less than 8 miles. So i do a lot of short trips. But i also do some highway travel on weekends. So i really have a few questions. Will this very short driving 1-2 miles at a time be good or bad with a Hybrid? I really curious what the actual mileage is for the Fusion Hybrid (any year), city and highway. Being that the hybrid will cost about 7-8k more than the regular gas engine, I don't know if it will be worth it.
Also would any of you know what the actual mileage is for a regular Fusion 4cyl.

Thanks,
Jason

The Fusioin 1.6 with start/stop (not the hybrid) sounds like your best bet - no MSRP yet so can't say for sure http://www.ford.com/cars/fusion/2013...rs/dispatch.do

Re: Is a Fusion Hybrid for me ?

Short trips makes a hybrid relative worse, but they also make a regular car slightly worse. However, it depends very much on the conditions.

To find typical mileage ranges for a Fusion, try looking at fueleconomy.gov or fuelly.com.

Your mileage will vary. Based on EPA ratings for 12kmi/yr a Fusion Hybrid could save money over a conventional Fusion but it depends on what conventional Fusion you'd buy, gas prices and the driving.

Please edit your profile to give your current location. Region should be enough as long as it indicates your climate, terrain and driving conditions.

Please give us more details of the trips you take during the work day: how many miles do you drive in total?
What are the other miles that make up the 10k to 12k?

Re: Is a Fusion Hybrid for me ?

Not sure about the math...price, tax credits, resale and energy cost assumptions all have to be part of the calculus...but you sound like a candidate for the Fusion Energi plug in hybrid.

Re: Is a Fusion Hybrid for me ?

With a 2011 FFH high 30's to low 40's are achievable in such a short conmute, but since it is so short, why not walk or a bike.... but if those two are not options, knowing what i know about the 2013 Fusion, all about the G is correct, the Energi PHEV will be your best choice, depending on the price and your budget...
