Re : Week of June 18th - June 24th, 2012 (Nat Avg $3.53)
Thx for your reply Larry.
So multiple 10-20mi drives per day, several with hot coolant. Yesterday I did a 23.3mi round trip, with 1 hour stop (so long enough for HSD to downgrade to S2 at restart ), at 70+mpgUS
I forgot about tires... 80psi (5.5bar) is so big... I'm @ 58psi (4.0 bar) while max side wall @ 51psi (3.5bar).
From Michelin, adding 1 bar (14.5psi) is lowering CRR by 20%, so going from 58 to 80 should lower it by another 25+%.
I'm already feeling the difference in the morning from 13 to 20°C (55 to 68°F), I can't imagine with such a secret weapon I may have a try to increase by 4-5psi every couple week
Denis.

Re: Week of June 18th - June 24th, 2012 (Nat Avg $3.53)
I really don't know what's with these birds. They became suicidal or something. In the morning I caught a sparrow - with my chest It's the third bird in my life, and two of them in a week or so... and in the afternoon I've seen another crossing the road, dangerously close to the front wheel. And I really didn't have time to react. They're making me worry.
Tank is at 277km on the trip meter, (plus the return trip from the beach last Sunday and 5.6km key-off FAS). It'll have one more commute-length round trip and then I'll finish the tank on a 2-up country crossing trip. I'm really curious about the result.

Re : Week of June 18th - June 24th, 2012 (Nat Avg $3.53)
I looove heat : 28-30°C = 82-86°F
This after-noon I got the Prius to try to camrecord in 640x480 (not watched it yet). I drove half of my daily commute and back home.
Once again, despite some pushers I reached 60 sooner and reached 80 where usually I'm @72-75 at best when I'm beating records... When I turned around I was @83+
On the way back I got uphills and unpredicted traffic so it was harder to keep my 80 on SG2 and my 3.1L/100 on the MFD... At the end of the trip I abused my HV battery a little and recovered them - 23.8mi @ 80.6mpgUS

Tank: 150mi @ 70.4mpgUS (+1.7)
Denis.

Re: Week of June 18th - June 24th, 2012 (Nat Avg $3.53)
Here is a summary of the last 52.3 miles. A mix of urban and peaceful hilly country road. Weather breezy temp in 50-70's. Hadn't charged the battery in that distance.
52.3 mi @ 140.35 wh/mi = 239.1 MPGe
Measured at the input side of the charger it was 8.384 KWH. 160.32 wh/mi = 209.3 MPGe
Was quite pleased as this includes mostly family trips (two occupants), plus 6 miles driven by my careful, but non-hypermiling daughter and her daughter.
The charging power was from a PV sourced EVSE. Charged during daylight so it is pure solar.
Of interest might be the approximately 55wh the car uses everyday when it just sits. EV's internal ghost load. Removal of this sitting in the garage ghost load increases the MPGe to 248.67.
Noticeable drop in gasoline price this week. ($3.75 now) Getting tempted to top off the family of FSP's before it starts up again. But as always I'll try to time the bottom.

Re: Week of June 18th - June 24th, 2012 (Nat Avg $3.53)
Denis, you are quickly narrowing in on better fuel economy.
Nice numbers, Mike!! Your charging seems to be quite a bit more efficient than mine.
I took a quick run out to pick up some dinner for the family tonight. The round trip consisted of 5 stop signs, 4 lights, and 2 traversals of a large hill (artificially built up to clear a railroad track so it is quite steep and around 5 stories high).
80F, 12mph wind from the NNE, overcast:
- 5.8mpk over 1.1mi --> 194.6 MPGe (Home to restaurant)
- 5.4mpk over 1.2mi --> 181.2 MPGe (Restaurant to home)
Day Total: 5.6mpk over 2.3mi --> 187.9 MPGe
Tot. Usage: 0.4 kWh
Adj. Cost: $0.06

Re: Week of June 18th - June 24th, 2012 (Nat Avg $3.53)
Trip home from the public EVSE plus one drive to the store for groceries.
10.2 mi @ 127.7 wh/mi = 262.79 MPGe
72 F light wind
Traffic was easy and most of the lights timed out nicely. Have done better. I'm liking this slightly lower psi in the tires. The Bots dots don't sound like little land mine's anymore, but it may be costing me a few wh'rs. Right at max sidewall psi now.
Thanks Sean. The lithium's are saving me a fair amount of charging overhead. No longer need the float portion that was necessary for the Pba's. With the Pba's it is likely the total energy consumption was likely fairly evenly divided between actual driving and the constant float charge. The car always sat plugged in more than it moved.

Watch those birds Alvaro - they sound like they are on a suicide mission
Nearly at your target for the tank Denis - go go go
Took my daughter for a driving lesson Sunday in what is now her car, the '05 Jazz. I reset the FCD after dropping her off at her job. Drove home and back 4 hours later including a trip to the allotment and FCD was reading 61.6 over 25.4 miles. Daughter then drove it home and FCD only dropped to 58.9 over 11.0 miles so pretty good for a Learner driver (only 10 hours driving so far and one official lesson ), she managed 56.5mpg - maybe another hypermiler in the family - she tried hard not to stop anywhere and max speed was 50

Re: Week of June 18th - June 24th, 2012 (Nat Avg $3.53)
Friday to Sunday lots of work and family induced driving...worked hard to spare the dino juice.
Friday: had to make it to Mankato, MN to hold a training seminar and loaded down with two hundred pounds of coffee (85 miles south west of work -- 115 miles southwest of home.
57.8 -- 81.4 miles (82f, tail to side wind ... 2 customer stops, almost to Mankato)
60.7 -- 12.9 miles (St. Peter, MN to Mankato...same conditions)
64 -- 115.6 miles (89f, head to crosswind...Mankato to home)
Saturday -- errands, collecting the boy from scout camp pick-up, returning to pick-up spot to clean and pack tents/gear after they had dried), dropping off friend
63.9 -- 50.9 miles (warm, 2 round trips)
Sunday -- had to make it in to work to hold training session for a customer who is reopening after a 6 week remodel and name change hiatus.
70.8 -- 30.9 miles (80f, 12mph tailwind, 2 up (son) Max interstate route PR -- had to get to work in under 45 min.) Conditions ripe for a 75+ on my favorite route that is partially under construction.
work to home including 4 stops and picking up son's friend.
57 -- 38.1 miles (82f, 12mph headwind)

Or (which is worse) maybe beginner Hitchcock fans
But they're getting closer. The next one will probably aim for the face. So I won't ever open my visor around there.
Good start
