Re: GM’s PU Truck Cylinder Deactivation Leaves Much to be desired…

I remember reading "late 2014" for GM's RWD 8 speed automatic. If that's true, the new Silverado would be 6AT only for well over a year before it gets the new transmission. And hopefully the 8AT doesn't arrive with the shift programming that plagued the first year of the Lambda (Traverse/Enclave/etc) and Delta (Cruze) 6 speeds where the computer seemed to select gear ratios by throwing a dart at a cork board containing numbers 1 thru 6.

GM has some of the best brains in the business locked away in office buildings around the world. It's too bad they don't send the accountants to some tiny island somewhere for a five year vacation and turn the creative minds loose to deliver some amazing new products.

Maxx
Occasionally GM does exclude accountants-and they produce the $8000 option 2 mode.
Of course if we had $6 gas-the 2 mode might look pretty good.
Some would say the same about the Volt and the original EV for that matter.
They do seem to cheapout in small but important things(like how a trans shifts-maybe $5 per unit to put more development into it)-and go nuts on BIG things.
