2013 Buick Encore: Most Fuel Efficient Domestic Crossover

http://media.gm.com/content/media/us...ce=twitterfeed

General Motors proudly threw out today that the upcoming Buick Encore will be the most fuel efficiency domestic crossover offered. The EPA rating is 25/33. This is of course for the Front Wheel Drive equipped models.

Buick is also touting the fact that their engine can run on regular fuel unlike key competitors.

For such a small crossover I was expecting a little bit more especially for the FWD model. I will have to wait and see what kind of fuel economy is possible out of the 140 horsepower 1.4 liter turbocharged engine.

What does everyone think? Is this a big let down for small CUV buyers?

Re: 2013 Buick Encore: Most Fuel Efficient Domestic Crossover

Sorry GM, at an EPA-estimated 25 mpg city, 33 mpg highway and a combined 28 mpg fuel economy with a standard six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive certainly is NOT adequate for my "to be considered" list.

In fact, the 2013 Buick Encore misses the list by at least 17 mpg combined.

Just the way it is ...

I definitely agree. My standard is pretty high as well when it comes to initial EPA numbers. For me something in the low 30s really isn't a tempting buy at all. I really did like the concept of this vehicle but the powertrain seems like an after thought.
