The Toyota Witch Hunt
Much of the testimony from Congress's Toyota hearings is riveting and emotional but can't be trusted, writes Ed Wallace
Ed Wallace - BUSINESSWEEK - February 25, 2010
Finally an article that aligns with my thoughts and with other facts that weren't revealed at the hearing! --Ed.
"Several times I have noticed that the acceleration will drop off the second I take my foot off the pedal. Please advise ASAP!!!!!!!!!"NHTSA Toyota Complaint #10302477
"Accelerator stuck, wide-open position, sudden acceleration to high speed, while driving. Unable to stop vehicle with braking system."NHTSA Toyota Complaint #10302541
The above are two of the thousands of complaints registered with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration concerning speed control issues with late-model Toyota (TM) Camrys. The media keep saying that "close to 3,000 complaints of uncontrollable unintended acceleration" have been sent to the NHTSA, and doing so ... [Read More]

Re: The Toyota Witch Hunt
"riveting" ?? I *watched* a goodly chunk of that, and it was
really difficult. When they started getting into the "god
intervened and made the car stop" nonsense, my brain turned off.

Re: The Toyota Witch Hunt
Peculiar things have been happening with Toyota's stock recently. For instance, sometimes shorts have not been available when bad news breaks. It appears that someone with deep pockets and inside knowledge has been propping up the stock somehow, but they haven't been filing insider trading forms. ( I don't play shorts, but I know people who do.)
You should expect an SEC investigation to join the "witch hunt."

Re: The Toyota Witch Hunt
The Media/Congressional circus around the so-called faults with Toyota floor mats and electronics smacks of corporate dirty tactics by Toyota's competitors. I have never owned a Toyota but know they are very good vehicles. There may be a problem in the ECU but only unbiased, calm, fact-based analysis will find it.
The "witch hunt" and the stupid, emotional testimony by the lady who received God's help (after phoning her husband) are insults to anyone's intelligence. Of course, it made great TV!
Marshall MacLuhan was correct: "The media is the message".
