A Prius PHEV Bringing Christmas Cheer

How about a 2 week free test drive to make a UK small business' holidays jolly and bright?

Wayne Gerdes - CleanMPG - Dec. 19, 2012

2013 Toyota Prius PHEV-11 - $32,760 to start, 11-miles all-electric range and a 50 mpgUS combined rating when consuming liquid gold. And in its Christmas decor is absolutely electrifying

A Prius PHEV did something shocking in London as it was powering an array of twinkling lights strewn across its exterior as part of Camden’s, a borough of London, Christmas celebration.

The debut was imitated by the Cleaner Air for London Businesses project. This gives local businesses the chance to try out the latest electric vehicles, demonstrate the benefits of low and zero-emissions transport and dispel some of the common myths and preconceptions associated with the technology. The Prius PHEV is being offered for two-week test drives, free of charge.

Health

Studies by the Mayor of London’s office report that more than 5,000 deaths a year in the capital are related to diesel particulates and NOx emissions which can cause or aggravate asthma. In city center traffic, where diesel emissions are the highest, Prius PHEV can be driven in EV all-electric mode, producing zero tailpipe emissions.

Decked out in a Christmas wrap, the Prius PHEV was able to create the seasonal display using power from its hybrid system, with no emissions to light up the night.

The fun included carols from the Trinity Laban Choir and a refreshment van, also provided by Toyota, serving free hot drinks and mince pies.

The benefits of the Prius PHEV can be enjoyed all-year round. Thanks to its light, compact and powerful Li-Ion battery, it can be driven for more than 11 miles on the plug.

More details for those small business’ in the London area can be found at the following: Electric vehicle trials for businesses.

Other vehicles in the program include a Vauxhall Ampera (the Volt) and an Ashwood Hybrid Transit Van (a Ford Transit diesel with electric assist).

Re: A Prius PHEV Bringing Christmas Cheer

What's the Cd of a Prius PHEV with all those light strings on it, anyway? :P

Anyway, the display is cute, but in fairness LEDs are now efficient enough that you could probably run them off any car battery.
