Week of July 16th - July 22nd, 2012 (Nat Avg: $3.42)
Welcome back to another warm week of summer! The national average for a gallon of regular gas has dropped one penny since last Monday.
We are in for a heat wave today! We'll be topping 97F with a heat index nicely into the low hundreds.
76F, 15mph headwind from the S, clear:
- 7.2mpk over 14.7mi --> 241.6 MPGe (Home to work)
I hope everyone has a fantastic week ahead!

Sean, sounds like you'll have similar temps as me today; 98F and heat index of 105F or higher.
It was68F and wind was calm.

Re: Week of July 16th - July 22nd, 2012 (Nat Avg: $3.42)
We're having a rubbish summer so far in the UK - we'll be lucky to top 70°F this week.
Back to no driving for me again - car sharing ∞MPG
This tank has been running for over 4 weeks now and is 86% commuting
I don't think I'll beat my record tank again but it's not far off.

Re: Week of July 16th - July 22nd, 2012 (Nat Avg: $3.42)
I left the car on the charger all weekend so it's topped up now.
I had a very nice run this morning. If not for traffic blocking my left turn into the lot at work...
98.7 mpg / 10.6 mi - home to work
The tank is up to 88.7 / 223 mi. Still above F, but the needle is starting to move on some hill climbs. I'm looking for 300+ at F.

Re: Week of July 16th - July 22nd, 2012 (Nat Avg: $3.42)
Today I just felt the need of some exercise, so I hopped on my bicycle and pedalled around a bit (with a nice watermelon in the bike's basket on the way home). No gas used, 22.1km / 13.7mi.
And I've seen some forest (dirt) roads I haven't before.

@CRT1
Quote "Do you have a kill switch in your FIT? If yes, how did you implement? I am starting to consider it. Ideally I would also have a red light that shines in my face when the engine is off and a starter button so I don't need to use the key (no bump starts in the AT ). That would be my dream set-up in this car."
No I don't have a Kill switch. i just pulse then pop out gear, wait until the tach is down to 1500 and key off for 1 second and then key back on. Usually that is good enough to kill the ICE and reboot takes about 2-3 seconds with the Tach at 0 and the battery and oil light on.
Sean that is some crazy good numbers.
Mike, you are crazy good with that Lithium pack

Re: Week of July 16th - July 22nd, 2012 (Nat Avg: $3.42)
Lunch errand: return a quart of Honda MTF to the dealer. Turns out the DX only takes 2 quarts, while the Si in the honda-tech tutorial takes 2.5. $9 back in my pocket is good.
91.7 / 3.8 - to Honda dealer
90.2 / 3.8 - back to work
The tank is still at 88.7 / 231 mi.

Re: Week of July 16th - July 22nd, 2012 (Nat Avg: $3.42)
Toasty warm out there. I was trying for a record but this much wind gets to be an issue whenever you turn any direction but the way it blows. Traffic simply wouldn't let up, either. I can't complain too much, though -- the numbers are still way better than they'd be in the Insight!
98F, 21-28mph tailwind from the S, sunny:
- 7.5mpk over 15.1mi --> 251.7 MPGe (Work to home)
Day Total: 7.3mpk over 29.8mi --> 245.0 MPGe
Tot. Use: 4.1 kWh
Adj. Cost: $0.62
I should get a full charge tonight -- it wasn't parked long enough last night to get back to the 80% level. Hopefully I can get the electrician in here soon...

Re: Week of July 16th - July 22nd, 2012 (Nat Avg: $3.42)
First drive since Saturday . A short one to take my daughter to meet a friend. 25/30 PSL, clear 70F windy.
2.0 mi @ 106.14 wh/mi = 316.17 MPGe (A perfect use for a EV- no warm-up needed.)
She really should have walked. Running late she went to start her car and it had that I have a nearly dead battery sound. My load tester confirmed it.
Will likely be shopping grp24's when she gets home or in the morning. Still under Acura warranty??? Second battery in 6 years. Way to many 1 mile to work, 1 mile home drives.
Her husband came out to find a "on the rim" flat tire as he headed to work. Tread is about used up so they probably won't repair it. Is it Monday or what? A better week to all of you.
Mike
5.7 mi @ 122 wh/mi = 275.07 MPGe evening drive to go hiking

Reason: added additional drive
