47mpg commute today in the Touring!
Wow, what a day. My son is in a day camp this week on the edge of town ... unfortunately the opposite side of town from where I work. Today my wife was indisposed and I had to do pickup and dropoff, which made for a total 50.5 mile commute. Ugh.
Upside of having to do all this driving, at slightly off-peak hours, was minimal traffic, few delays and GREAT light timing. Just kept rolling and rolling and rolling. Lots of loooong ICE-off glides, very few proctologists pushing me to go faster than optimal. It was what I wish every day's commute could be like.
Didn't hurt that it was an absolutely perfect NW summer day, having cooled down to the 70s after a few hot days, no need for AC.
Ended up averaging 47.4mpg for the commute. Whoo-hoo!

Re: 47mpg commute today in the Touring!
Wow, a great week. Ended up doing more pickup/dropoff runs out there (although, fortunately, I was able to do yesterday's afternoon pickup by bicycle rather than car) because my wife got called in. Pulled some more great numbers.
Wednesday started off horribly with minutes of stop-and-go due to a collision and lane blockage on the bridge I drive across, but my overall commute still ended up at 43.4mpg over ... coincidentally, 43.4 miles. Exactly one gallon used.
Yesterday, no such problems and I managed to again post 47.3 over 37.4 miles.
