2013 Ford C-MAX – Just like the 2013 Fusion Hybrid, the HEV is expected to be rated at 47 mpg in the city.
Ford will soon be able to boast that it has the freshest new vehicle lineup of any full-line automaker in the U.S. In addition it will be offering eight vehicles that deliver 40 mpg or better by year-end – double the number that it currently offers and that it is also tripling its electrified vehicle production capacity by 2013.
In addition, Ford’s EcoBoost powertrains from 1.6L to 3.5L are now a mainstay in Ford’s Escape, Explorer, Edge, F-150, Flex, Focus ST, Fusion and Taurus.
Cost savings with minimal platforms
In 2011, Ford said it has 22 distinct vehicle platforms in use around the world. By 2017, it expects to have reduced that number to 10 with 80% of its entire global output based on just five platforms.
Fuel Economy is only one attribute of Ford’s future with advanced technology and innovation set to bring us future Ford products we can only begin to dream of.
