I would like to see a comparison between the Prius C and Cruz diesel.

Re: Is there going to be a section for the new Prius C ?

Had to go into the office today. (Needed a security sticker for the new car).
It's pretty close, but there are a lot of little hills in Lexington.
Got 62 mpg on the way over and 69.2 on the way home.(see pic).

My Eco score was at 81 when I was nearly home.

The bad news is, this car seems to be a magnet to people driving large cars and trucks at high speeds.

My short trip home was very relaxed until I got to my street.
I had to stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk, before making my left turn.
But, I was stopped on top of a hill. And, cars from the other direction,
can't see the top of the hill until they get to the rise near the top.
Normally not a problem, IF they are going under 60 MPH (in this 30 MPH zone).

I almost got hit again! (T-boned). It wasn't too close, but I wondered why
the muscle-car driver figured he should hit his horn, before locking up his brakes??

Thinking back, this kind of near-miss (at the same place) has happened to me a few times before, while driving SUVs..

Last night my wife and I discussed the near misses we've had since getting the 'c'.
I think because the car is so new (and nice) we are more sensitive to near-misses..?.
Since, they happen regularly when you drive in this area of MA.
But we agreed that we should start using the Mass motorcycle/bicycle safety rule.
Drive like you (and your vehicle) are invisible.

Mostly, it's only a matter of time before you get hit. It's just part of life in the big city..

Not me! I never speed..

At 65 to 80 MPH, I wonder if the AC ever came on at all..

Re: Is there going to be a section for the new Prius C ?

The girls just got back from a 437 mile road trip.. (Burlington, Vermont).

18.5 miles of EV while in Vermont plus, to and from the highway.?.

50.8 MPG for the trip, isn't too bad, with non-hypermiler drivers.
My daughter, who normally zooms around in a BMW SUV did most of the miles.

They reported the seats got a little uncomfortable after about 3 hours..
I'm pretty sure they haven't done 200 miles in a subcompact car lately..

So, now the odometer is up to 783 miles showing 61.4 mpg.
Since they didn't write down any details about their fill-up,
I'll have to wait until the next fillup to get more Fuelly data.

I don't think we have any more road trips until late summer, so we should see
the over-all MPGs climb a bit..

Re: Is there going to be a section for the new Prius C ?

We've been wrapping up the miles!

Visiting the gas station at least once a month too!

Lil' Red is working like a champ. If I want to go for Pizza and get 65-70 MPG, it's super easy.
Or, I can drive badly and only get 55-60 MPG

My wife is still crazy about her new car. And, I've found that I'm not using my old Ford much these days.
When I want to run out to Home Depot etc and it's not a big load, I take the C.

I'm really saving fuel by letting the Ford sit unused. We used it the other day for a short trip
hauling 3 weeks of food shopping. I was horrified by the poor MPG! 22 MPG!!

Rich,

I'll bet you could have carried 3 weeks of groceries in the Prius C? Fold down the seats, and pack it in! ;-)

Re: Is there going to be a section for the new Prius C ?

I knew that, but my wife was worried.. And, the Escape already has the back seats down
and it has a neat cargo net, that will keep a very large watermelon from rolling all over the place.

Plus, she worries that not starting the Ford once a week isn't good for it..

Re: Is there going to be a section for the new Prius C ?

I only go through about two tanks a year in my Tacoma, so I put a bottle of Sta-Bil before each fillup, and try to take it out for at least 15 miles every other week.

Re: Is there going to be a section for the new Prius C ?

I've been using Sta-Bil in my cars since I retired 5 years ago..
Before that I used it just for small engine fuel. (Snow blower, 5kw Generator & etc).
Seems to work okay..
