Re: Pilot SG setup
Drive by wire. It's showing you the actual throttle position, not the gas pedal position.
I generally like K.I.S.S and a simple direct cable throttle like my car has, but it's a good thing in this case. Honda can do some throttle and intake valve magic and squeeze out more mpg while making the whole thing transparent.

Re: Pilot SG setup
I've got the technique for Highway driving down. I can get 28mpg consistently (good for a 4400lb vehicle). Keep in mind that is carrying 4 people with the A/C running.
City driving is where I stink. I guess its my routes. I have hills with stop signs on most of my driving routes. 17-18 is good in those conditions. It's also hard in a town like mine where you just get the engine warm by the time you get where you're going. A 2-3 mile (one-way) drive is about the max city driving I do.
Good news for me is that I only fill up every 2.5 weeks.

Re: Pilot SG setup
Those numbers sound familiar for a Honda 5AT V6 vehicle-thingy. City driving is horrible in these.

Re: Pilot SG setup
I get about the same mileage in this thing as my Father in Law gets in his 2012 V6 Accord. He must drive like a NASCAR driver.
My wife regularly drops my average by a half mpg each time she drives it. I'm not sure what she does - since I'm not in the car when she drives - but it kills the mileage.

Re: Pilot SG setup
This is the sort of thing I can do easily on the highway.
That was done pretty much by just DWL. I was also yelling at kids... When you drive a full car around, I think mpg/person is valuable. In this case - 7 people = 28.3*7 = 198.1 mpg/person.
I catch flak on this forum for driving Big Blue (my Pilot) but when you need something that can handle three car seats, plus a double stroller, plus random stuff like groceries, you can see that it gets used well. I also haul a mower, weed-eater, edger, gas-can, blower, and ramp (for the mower) around in it weekly to vacant rental properties. About once a week we end up flipping the rear seat down for driving 6-8 people around.

Re: Pilot SG setup
Just me driving to the mechanic this morning with no a/x going I got 32.5 MPG for the trip. Too bad I drive in the city most of the time!
