Re: 2013 Nissan Altima Specifications

What RichXKU said, but I wish they offered an optional 2.0 liter.

It is amazing that I'm complaining that a 2.5 liter is too big of an engine.

Probably since the fuel sucking pig in my garage has a 24 valve 2.9 liter under the hood.

Re: 2013 Nissan Altima Specifications

Is that 27/38 an official EPA number ? Or is it just a rumour ? Seems almost too good to be true.

Re: 2013 Nissan Altima Specifications

Hi Edwin:

While not listed on the EPA site, it has earned a 27/38 rating per Nissan's EPA tests which the Altima will sport on its Monroney as the first vehicle reaches dealership showrooms in just a few weeks.

Re: 2013 Nissan Altima Specifications

I seem to recall that not all manufacturers' EPA tests work out the same as when the EPA actually tests them. BMW 328i ? I do hope these numbers stick.

Re: 2013 Nissan Altima Specifications

It could make the Altima a huge seller. Although it's smaller than its D segment competitors, it could draw some people from the C segment.

I'll be very interested to know the real-world mileage numbers to see how much they're pushing the limits.

Re: 2013 Nissan Altima Specifications

Hi Edwin:

The 328i was the first one I had heard of in years not to pass the EPA's scrutiny and by 3 mpg highway no less.

Given all of the press Nissan has generated with the 38 mpg highway number, you can be pretty confident they have reached it. With the new Xtronic CVT, they are pushing out what has been told to me a 1,500 RPM at 60 mph revs. That is low and that supports 38 mpg highway from a modern day engine.

We will have a better idea after tomorrow.
