Hi Wayne, that 3Ti should really make a big difference, the pics coming out of a DSLR always look so much better than any point & shoot. The downside of course is its bulkiness and needing different lenses and so on. I was lucky to have a good friend who was into photography and he taught me a good amount, the picture I took there could be done with almost anyone's camera. I used my $300 Panasonic ZS5 for that. It's good for the most part except it's not the most sensitive in low light (no P&S really is), that's why I needed a good 20 seconds or so to get something like that. If I had the money though, I would have a DSLR to get better shots, and also the ZS5 to carry around when I don't want the weight of a DSLR.
