Nissan April 2012 Sales Down 0.3%

Versa continues to own the B-Segment.

2012 Nissan Versa – The second generation design that begins at just $10,990 USD. That is right, $10,990 to start albeit stripped to the door panels.

When Nissan released pricing for its all-new, totally redesigned, second generation Nissan Versa Sedan, it included a noteworthy highlight. That being it is by far the lowest starting MSRP of any automobile in America. As in $10,990 USD low. The Versa Sedan 1.6 S 5MT includes standard A/C, 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, AM/FM/CD/Aux-in audio system and an advanced 1.6L I4 with dual injector system and twin Continuously Variable Timing Control (CVTC).

The Versa Sedan is rated at 27/36 mpgUS city/highway with the grossly short geared 5-speed MT

Nisan April 2012 Sales Results

Nissan reported April U.S. sales of 71,329 units versus 71,526 units a year earlier, down 0.3 percent.

Nissan Highlights

Sales of the Nissan Versa posted a new April record, with 8,335 deliveries, an increase of 30 percent over the prior year and continues to leads the Sub-compact marketplace as it has for the past year.

And a lowlight -- In a blow to the electric vehicle community, LEAF sales reached just 370 vehicles in April, down 35.4% from the year ago period.

Infiniti Highlights

Infiniti reported total sales of 7,129 units for April, an increase of 5.4 percent from 6,761 units a year earlier.

Prius sales combined reached 25,168 but within the sales breakout, none were in the top 10.

Top 10 Sales Leaders - Items of note: Camry and a fast charging Accord are neck and neck. Corolla and Civic both jumped 3 places. CR-V and Fusion fell 3 places. Malibu with tons of cash on the hood climbs back into the top 10 and Sonata edges out RAM to take the final spot.

April segment ranking items of note: Versa still leads the B-Segment with Sonic and Accent closing. Yaris passed the Fit and Rio while Rio outsold the Fit.

In the C-Segment, the ancient Corolla took hold of the lead with the much maligned Civic grabbing second place. Focus fell from first to third yet still outsold the Cruze.

The Camry leads everyone in the car segment and we mean all segments with the Accord jumping way up to second place with Malibu, Fusion and Sonata battling for third, fourth and fifth.

March manufacturer sales rank items of note: Toyota just misses topping Ford, Nissan falls well behind Honda and Hyundai/Kia combined, Mercedes-Benz tops Mazda and BMW outsells Subaru.

SAAR is running at approximately 14.5 Million units.
