Mike,
Spotted on a Hyundai forum, posted by a Canadian Hyundai owner (located in Ontario), who wrote to Hyundai Canada and received this response:

"Thank you for your response.
As Hyundai Motor America and Hyundai Auto Canada are independently operated companies, there may be differences in the products, prices and warranties offered between the two. The lifetime hybrid battery warrant you are referring to is not currently offered by Hyundai Auto Canada.
We have, however, documented your recommendation with the appropriate personnel here at Hyundai Auto Canada for consideration; many changes and improvements come about due to feedback from our customers.
Please do not hesitate to contact us at the number below if you have any further questions.
Sincerely,
Frederick

Other Canadians responded before that note stating the battery was covered under "the 8 year warranty", assumed to be the powertrain warranty.
If it's any consolation, Hyundai is not covering the 2011 HSH owners with the lifetime guarantee, even though they're the same batteries. It's apparently only in place for new car sales, and they know the majority of people trade every five or six years anyway, and so there will never be a warranty claim on a very old battery.
