New IMA battery coming
Hi All,
My ima light came on last night. The car has around 98k miles on it. When I took the car in to the dealer today, they told me I need a new ima battery, that it is covered under warranty, it will arrive in a few days, and they will need the car for at least two days.
Is there anything I should be aware of about this procedure? I have not done the reflash and have requested they not alter the ecu under any circumstances. Do I have to get the reflash in order to get the new battery?

Re: New IMA battery coming
We did get all the software updates, and didn't notice a big change. With a battery on the way, I wouldn't put an obstacle in their way. The dealership is likely obligated to update the software.
Please post any differences you notice, before and after. Thanks.

Re: New IMA battery coming
06hch2, what kind of symptoms were you experiencing prior to the IMA light coming on? And for how long were you experiencing them?
Thanks,
Jess

Nothing major, aside from a gradual decrease in fuel efficiency over the life of the car, which required me to work harder, especially during the winter, to make decent numbers. Frankly, I was really surprised when he said I need a new ima battery, and even more surprised that I didn't have to fight to get it.

Re: New IMA battery coming
06hch2, I would go with the flashes as it makes the HCH2 a much better Driver. My FE has gone up with the IMA up-dates. The system is managed much better with the current up-grades! You will not regret it! H

Re: New IMA battery coming
I merged two duplicate posts into one and merged the titles and corrected spelling of the one that stuck with your post from the old thread, hence the edit on your post. Nothing you did.

I don't know, Harold. I respect your opinion, but I've read a lot of the feedback following the reflash, and it seems mixed, at best. Lots of horror stories, and very few saying it improved their car. I notice both you and Mendel live in cold weather and had a positive response to the reflash. I live in warmer weather. Could it be weather-related?
I just can't see the benefit to me of making the car less of a hybrid with the reflash.

Re: New IMA battery coming
06hch2-I believe the up-dates would help people living in hot climates more as assist is not as aggressive which would not heat the pack nearly as much? H
