Need help with setup for HSH
Got my Scanguage II back yesterday, with 4.07 installed. Put in car before leaving work, and set it up. The problem is the instant display of MPG is way, way off. I did set the engine size, type, and verified speed adjustment. I topped tank off today, after doing the initial fillup last night per book. My usage for tank was reasonably close, it reported 2.2 where I put in 2.16 gallons, although a different station. So at least the tank average is decently close, but is there some trick to getting the instant readout a little closer to the car's built in gauge? I need the precision of a digital readout to come up with a good driving strategy, but it has to be accurate info so I can evaluate options. I'm coming from 3.01, but if the tank average is right it implies my setup is more or less good. Anyone with any SG with ideas for me?

Re: Need help with setup for HSH
Hi Thunderstruck:
The iFCD in the HSH is built around the systems ICE-On and Off behavior, not the actual instantaneous so you will never have the SG-II match. Use your SG's iFCD since it is the actual in real time.
IHTH?

Re: Need help with setup for HSH
Yea, but if the ICE is running and I'm seeing the cars display around 40, varying with throttle, but the SG is only showing 20's that sounds fishy. They both seem to be near real time, just totally out of sync. I guess I could watch the trip summary instead, since I think it's closer to reality. Are you saying the iFCD isn't real time? It appears to be.
Love it when I fill the car and glide across in electric mode as the cars iFCD shows 99.9 MPG.

Re: Need help with setup for HSH
Hi Thunderstruck:
The Hyundai OEM iFCD is based on an algorithm taking into account the future ICE off time due to continuing battery charge as well as the current ICE-On time in some fashion. The iFCD and the SG-II iFCD will never match if you calibrate your SG-II as you are supposed to. Use the SG-II’s iFCD since that is actual real time.
The OEM is not a real time iFCD.

Re: Need help with setup for HSH
Wayne, thanks for clearing that up. The salesman told me I could watch it while I drive to get better economy, but he failed to mention it's not real time. I had talked with him about how varying driving style a little could produce major gains. As long as the data I'm getting from the SG is valid, I'm cool. My concern specifically was it was returning flawed data because of the mismatch, so my conclusions about different techniques would not be correct.

Re: Need help with setup for HSH
When in doubt , listen to Wayne. The dealership salesmen are good at guessing at an answer to a technical question while sounding as if they had designed the car themselves.
I have NEVER talked to a salesman that knew as much about their vehicle as I do.
