No idea, but even with a near-perfect system like HSD you still have to deal with the aerodynamics of trucks.. that standard door sized grill in a Silverado cant help.

Best bet may be a thru-the-road hybrid system.. a normal drivetrain driving the rear wheels for towing applications/hwy travel and a plug-in electric system driving the front wheels for city travel, and as a bonus you get FWD on demand. This would not require too many changes on existing hardware. One motor per front wheel with a short halfshaft, no front differential. Small motors with built-in inverters, air cooled..

Put in an inverter to supply AC power in emergencies and you would have a winner.
