Week of June 18 - June 24 (US Ave $3.00)
Looks like I get to start off again this week!
I seem to be having some issues with my car. It behaved as if it was fuel starved for the first 12 miles of my trip this morning and actually died on me 3 times. The battery voltage is fine and it wasn't overheating... it just had wild swings to almost no rpm while idling and then quit. No codes as far as I could find.
The only difference is that it has been parked outside on the hill of my driveway since Saturday because one of the springs on my garage door broke and I can't open it anymore. (Got the hardware off last night so I can fix it today). This means I also didn't have it plugged into the EBH like I usually do. It is especially humid this morning. The car was coasting like nobody's business but my first 2 FASes of the day only amounted to only 36mpg?? The last couple of times I did those I ended up with about 48mpg...
To top it off there was a stiff headwind to deal with all the way down to work.
75F, overcast, 20mph headwind, high humidity:
- 42.4mpg for 25.5mi (Home to work)
Not exactly an auspicious start to the week...
The SG reports 42.1mpg over 27.3mi (27.4mi ODO) -- plenty of time to pull it up.
Hope everyone is off to a good start for the week!!!

67.2 MPG this morning. If I remember and get the time, I'll post my weekend travels in last week's thread.

Re: Week of June 18 - June 24
A so-so ride this morning: 70 MPG, 9.5 miles, 66F. Could have been better if not for a car popping up in my rear view near the beginning of a mile-long glide on a usually deserted stretch of rural road.

Re: Week of June 18 - June 24
New plugs and wires on Saturday.
I was 10 minutes late and traffic was strange this morning...slow on the main highway (35 in a 45 zone) and heavy on the expressway (a touch of brakes at the Pike). Despite it all, I managed segments of 35/41/51.6 MPG for 45.6 MPG total over 15.4 miles at 66°F. This chunk of tank is at 42.9 MPG.
The plugs (Bosch +4) guarantee smoother starts, better acceleration and better fuel mileage or your money back. I couldn't tell the difference, so I guess I'll get my money back.

Re: Week of June 18 - June 24 (US Ave $3.00)
Hi All:
___Back in the Accord's saddle again … 67 – 70 degrees F and 5 – 10 mph head/side winds. I am trying to get the tank back up to 40 before filling but it is going to be close. 54.2 into the lot. SG-II is now up to 37.5 after 1,200 miles. (2) of Cheryls and what shw will allow to finish it up.
___Good Luck
___Wayne

Re: Week of June 18 - June 24 (US Ave $3.00)
took the backroads in today, and there was essentially no traffic until i got within 5 miles of st. cloud, which is the city i work in. i like my rural drive, it's quiet and relaxing. i have found that this whole experience lately has been quite life changing as far as my attitude about where i go and how quickly i get there. i am quite happy putzing along at 45, even though it means getting there a little later.
70.4 this morning.

Re: Week of June 18 - June 24 (US Ave $3.00)
Brain Cramps today... complete mental break from hypermiling today for about 1/2 the trip in, and couple that with some medium dense traffic, yielded a 30.5 mpg
Over the weekend, a number of pretty good trips on various errands, most in the 36 range. Girls softball on Saturday was awesome, 90+ degree heat with no wind, 3 players not available, against the 1st place team... end result: We win 3-2!
Hoping to engage brain drive again later today...

Re: Week of June 18 - June 24 (US Ave $3.00)
Camping in Arkansas for the weekend. Took the Odyssey. 600 miles round trip, averaged 25mpg. Right on EPA highway. Driving faster than they test, and using AC. I guess it's ok. This van is really hard to do ANYTHING at all with!
50.5 this morning, tank 48.9 / 123 miles.

Re: Week of June 18 - June 24 (US Ave $3.00)
Ho Hum. New record to work.
137. Last week's record 132, which used the "delayed NICE-on downhill warmup" wrinkle effectively, had a few stoplight hiccups. Today those hiccups were gone (and traffic was oddly light given my early 7am-ish trip in).
Also helping is one stretch where traffic is permitting me to do 2-3 VABeachPrius / TeddyGirl 20-30P&G cycles.
Actually touched 150(!) at the trip's elevation low point, before the climb up through downtown gave back 13. I had hopes of holding on to 140, but it was not to be today. But 140 seems closer than ever.
A 90 RT will still require a 67 on the way home (personal best is 63.7). I still think I'm gonna need 145+ to have a good shot at it. But if I can stick these 125-130s consistently, then we are talking 80 mpg tank at some point.........another goal. Just need a very average 57 for an 80 TODAY.
83.2mpg tank is another goal, simply because my first "just driving it" tank after purchasing the car in December 2007 was 41.6. I want 100% improvement due to hypermiling!
First five minutes of warmup postponing "EV crawl & wait" were slow, resulting in a blank bar. Warmup bar #2 was 85 (as was bar #4), so pegging six bars is still gonna need some work. Gotta find 15mpg.
After falling and falling, tank is back up to 75. Still on pace for at least 800 miles, maybe 900 if I keep pushing it up.
The fun continues.................................
