CleanMPG Previews the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid
Another excellent hybrid enters the midsize fray with both guns blazing.

Yes it was. And I'm sure we were exceeding that. Dangerous crazy drivers we are!

2012 Camry Hybrid Towing Capacity?

I've seen some reports that the late model camry hybrids were rated to tow 1000 lbs., but have not seen anything on this from official Toyota sources.

Does anyone have the specs on the 2012 camry hybrid as far as towing capacity goes?

Re: CleanMPG Previews the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Hi Wraith:

It is indeed $25,900.

Carcus, I am in AL right now and my press docs are in IL. IIRC, it was 1,000 pounds but let me make sure. I have a call into my son to run through the various pdf's to make sure it was listed.

Re: CleanMPG Previews the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Ok, thanks.

With a decent sized footprint and 200 ish hp I'm thinking a lightweight aluminum trailer could turn the Camry Hybrid into a decent 'pickup' when needed. Most of the loads I carry don't amount to more than 1,000 lbs. Although actually, I think the aero drag matters more than the weight when it comes to wear and tear with towing, but I wouldn't want to end up on the wrong side of a warranty claim with Toyota.

In addition, the location where the launch was held had to be the most optimal location for a Hybrid Press Preview I have ever had the pleasure to drive. If I were to setup a Fuel Economy Challenge in Washington State, I could not have found a better location as the area was saturated with 19 mph, 25 mph, 35 mph and 45 mph PSL’s with the Interstate not far away. Adding to the locale’s charm, many of the turns consisted of roundabouts or yields making it big numbers almost a guarantee. ...
I haven't been in to Suncadia Resort. But you went to Cicely Alaska (Northern Exposure) and didn't even mention it or seeing 'Roslyn's' Cafe?

To bad an ex-carpool partner had to trade in an old but still very serviceable Camry five months ago due to declining ability to operate the clutch. She loves her new Prius, but I think she'd have liked this Camry better if she could have waited.

PS. OK, now I see the picture in the other thread.

I saw the first of these in the wild yesterday. It had the HSD badge on the back, too! That's telling, isn't it - the first new Camry I saw was a hybrid.

Re: CleanMPG Previews the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Hi All:

The IIHS results are in and the 2012 Toyota Camry is now a "Top Safety Pick", its first ever. Last year, the Camry missed the mark because of a marginal rating for seat/head restraints but for 2012, top marks were the result.

I am sad. I was following a new Camry at lunch today. I see that Toyota has caught a disease from Mazda.

Re: CleanMPG Previews the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Hi

My wife I decided on a 2012 Camry Hybrid XLE this spring. We are in Canada and you only get 2-3 trim level choices. We opted for the fully loaded XLE with leather . We have put 5000miles on the car so far and our average mileage has been 45 MPG (Imperial). Quite impressive when you consider the car is quite large and extreamly comfortable. We just did a slower country road trip on the weekend and averaged 50 MPG over 300 miles.
