How many of us have heard what his daughter told him? --Ed.
As I was driving up the big hill the other morning I noticed the mileage of the Nissan LEAF flip over 6,000 miles. Nothing that momentous in the world of motoring but I gave a little halfhearted cheer.
“Way hey,” I said discreetly. I wasn’t driving alone.
“What’s that?” shouted my daughter; she had to turn down Taylor Swift to ask the question. She plugs her iPod into the USB port and enjoys the access to her extensive music library via the LEAF’s touch screen. I benefit from full volume Taylor, wonderful.
"We just passed 6,000 miles of fossil free motoring, darling,” I say, as I pass the brow of the hill and check the remaining range. It’s a full three miles back to our house and I have 89 miles according to the range indicator, I might just make it. Range anxiety you see – constant worry in an electric car.
“Dad,” says my wonderful daughter. “Have you ever noticed that half the time, none of us have a clue what you’re talking about, and what’s more, we don’t care.”...
