I presume one can get a hitch for Prius, Fit, and/or Yaris.
I have an adequate hitch mount already, that my BikeE (intermediate wheelbase) sorta fits on. I'm on the hpv (human powered vehicle, not human papilloma virus) & BikeE forums so am aware of tricks such as using a cargo clip or whatever those are called.
Besides my two BikeEs, my other bike is a Dahon folding bike, which will fit just about anywhere, and unlike my BikeEs, will also fit on the front racks on our local buses.
It's all very exciting....and I'll also respond to Pierre with my compliments, and my realization that the most energy-conserving solution for me may be to not buy an additional car, but keep my old cars running as well as I can. But there's no question that a new car will save on what I spend at the gas (or petrol) station. Merci!

FYI I have a Bacchetta Giro 26 and it just *barely* fits on my Thule T2 hitch rack.

Nice bike! A couple years ago, when I was recovering from neck injuries from a car accident, I test rode a bunch of 'bents and settled on the Giro (26/20) as my choice. I ended up "staying upright" so to speak, but if I ever get a recumbent that'll be the one. Good value, smooth ride, comfy bars .. and surprising offroad capabilities. Seriously.

Off road? I don't think I'll be trying that.
