Hi Charlie:
And it would be the most polluting vehicle probably in the state!
30,000 psi Piezo-electric, OEM HP Diesel injectors are maybe $75 a pop, a turbo about $175 OEM and a block with everything included at maybe $1,000 to $1,500 OEM, a CI-ICE should cost only about $750 to $1,000 more than an equivalent performance and sized SI-ICE. So where does the additional $2 to $3k come from? Overly aggressive EGR and control, SCR, DPF and tougher mounts and frame supports. Still very doable thanks to SCR but I do worry about the OEM’s jacking the price up as they do with SFE and ECO packages while taking “
stuff” out of the car? It sure is a great way to bust CAFE in the teeth however and for us, hallelujah
Npauli, can you add anything about OEM cost for some of the smaller components vs. the big stuff you deal with?
