Re: Toyota's Prius-I, reaching for the hypermiler in all of us.

Ok so I'm on my third tank of 50+ MPG FE so that is a start. I have the tires pumped up to max sidewall of 44 and the heat plug came today. I have a fresh oil change to 0-30 Mobil 1 from the previous 5-30 mobil 1 that I have been using. The temps here in Northern Maine have warmed up so that has helped. My next goal is to get over sixty on this tank. My travel routes have a lot of little hills and there are no interstates where I live so what next? I'm almost ready for new tires. Any ideas on what works best? Gas went up to 4.29 today. I could sure use a couple of 75mpg tanks.

Hi Mclgolf:

___The Prius THS fluid swap for the Prius II’s (I did not do that for Cheryl’s ), place some 0W-20 in her, not -30, find some slower speed areas where you can grab some 100 mpg – 5-minute bars every half hour or so and run stay the heck out of the pack at all costs.

___Good Luck

___Wayne

Just a note, while reading this article, it occurred to me. The first gen Prius is like an old video game console. Like the first gen Nintendo, and the 2010 Prius is like a Wii. Just a thought. I dont see to many of them anymore.

One of my coworkers has a first gen. I haven't had a chance to talk to him though.

(Bad thing is I am probably beating his MPG in a car that is a few years older.)

Heh, I had a friend in high school whose mom had one of these. When my friend would drive it, he'd manage a solid 25mpg
