Scangauge II - AVG gauge?

Hi all,

I've been a dormant wannabe hypermiler for some years now.

I finally plunked down the $160 and ordered myself a SGII. So far, so good! My one big question is what is the AVG gauge? It appears to be an MPG average of some sort. It doesn't seem to track exactly w/ trip MPG as shown under the TRIP screen. It looks like it's a lot smoother than the instantaneous MPG gauge, though. Does any know how this is calculated?

I couldn't find any mention of this in the manual, in their FAQ, or through my cursory browing here on the forums. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's current trip average fuel economy. Trip has four options - tank, today, previous day, and current. Any of them can be configured as an xgauge. Linear Logic added AVG as a current trip xgauge with the current version 3.17 firmware.
