General Motors this morning will announce new details of its investment in Michigan to build the Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric car.
GM says the Volt will create jobs and spur investment for the development of electric vehicles, batteries and infrastructure.
This morning, GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz will announce GM's investment in the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant previously named the site of Volt assembly and recap GMs total investment in the state. Gov. Jennifer Granholm and other leaders will be in attendance and make additional comments.
Assembly of the car is to begin in late 2010.
