Smarter and more fuel efficient driving in BMWs and MINIs makes “Drivesense”

BMW and MINI partnered with the Energy Saving Trust to provide vehicles supporting the ‘Smarter Driving’ program.

Mini One D one of the fuel efficient diesels in the “Drivesense” program.

Smarter Driving is a course that, for just $40 USD per person, lets organizations put their employees through to teach them the skills needed to drive more efficiently. By following the advice from the Energy Saving Trust, delivered through DriveSense, this driving style can save on average up to $410 USD per person per year in fuel and slash an individual’s CO2 emissions.

The BMW and MINI fleet are an ideal match for the Smarter Driving program as each car contains a suite of EfficientDynamics technologies, including Auto Start-Stop, Brake Energy Regeneration and Optimum Shift Indicators as standard across the entire fleet. This ensures that the cars donated by the BMW Group emit between 104g/km and 128g/km whilst providing up to 60.3 mpgUS combined on the NEDC mpg, before the DriveSense instructors have even begun their training.

Stephen Chater, BMW Group Corporate Operations Manager, said: “We are delighted to be part of a scheme which benefits not only the drivers but their employers and the wider environment too. The BMW Group fleet promises to offer participants a dynamic and engaging experience allowing them to easily adopt a Smarter Driving style.”

Dominic Marder, DriveSense Managing Director, said: “With an ever growing emphasis on green driving, DriveSense are delighted.
