Re: Week of November 2nd - November 8th (Nat Avg $2.71)
I really need to get my grill block installed. It took over 15mi for the coolant temp to get over 190F this morning!
23F, no wind, clear:
- 92.1mpg for 22.8mi (Home to work)
The tank is down to 97.2mpg over 312.3mi with 16 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.

And it's about time! We set a new record for October rainfall, the most since they started keeping records in 1902. We 15.xx inches, when an average year is 4.3 inches. It's been dry for 4 days now, and a pond I drive past is still flowing over the spillway.
---
71 mpg home last night at 70 degrees
74.6 mpg to work this morning at 52 degrees
The tank is up again, to 71 mpg / 458 miles.

60.4 over 57 miles in this morning. Then, 60.1 over 5 miles to lunch. Finally, 65 over 48 on the way home today. Now, it'd be just perfect if I could keep my wife out of the car for the next week .

Re: Week of November 2nd - November 8th (Nat Avg $2.71)
doing some testing now. I demodded my car except fpr tire pressure and seeing diff results at certain checkpoints, but overall doesn't seem to have changed my results at the end.
My grillblock was a piece of cardboard with some cheap vinyl material glued to it installed behind my grill and zip tied on. While it did help engine warmup. I'm thinking that the position it was in it was acting like a parachute rather than pushing the air over the car.
Had a short piece of exhaust pip in engine comepartment stuck againt my muffler and routed to my air box to get i.a.t up. i'd see iat temps up a lil but not til was close to work. maybe would work better on longer run or when weather is cooler
had a small piece of cardboard in front of rad and never realy check to see if that was helping. maybe put this one back on to see.
Right only thing changed on my car since i bought was increased tire pressure and also got the alignment adjusted. Oh and the SG too!!

Re: Week of November 2nd - November 8th (Nat Avg $2.71)
Nice work, Andrew!
Matthew, do I detect a little pleasure in your post?
It's always good to double check your setup every once in a while, Mike.
I had some pretty decent runs this afternoon.
45F (40F windchill), 8-10mph tailwind from the SSE, overcast:
- 103.4mpg for 20.0mi (Work to doctor's office -- had it up higher but a truck made me stop part way into the parking lot
)
- 94.9mpg for 4.1mi (Doctor's office to home)
The tank is back up to 97.5mpg over 336.6mi with 16 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.
Day Total: 96.8mpg over 47.0mi
I'm telling you, this reduction in pain is really making a huge difference in my numbers!

Re: Week of November 2nd - November 8th (Nat Avg $2.71)
Oh yes, happy indeed. The SGII thinks the tank is 61+ over 200 miles. That'll end though with the missus putting in some miles at 44 MPG avg :P.

Re: Week of November 2nd - November 8th (Nat Avg $2.71)
Well, try to take solace in the fact that she'd be getting much worse mileage in pretty much anything else. Still hurts, but maybe that'll reduce it to a sting?
