Australia’s Greenest car

Highest ranking vehicle in the “Land down under” is the 2010 Toyota Prius-III.

2010 Toyota Prius recognized yet again...

With the best combined greenhouse and air pollution rating of any vehicle sold in Australia, Prius is officially the greenest car.

Prius scored 17.5 out of 20 on the Austrailian Government's Green Vehicle Guide, 9.0 for greenhouse and 8.5 for air pollution.

It's the highest ranking vehicle in the entire Guide and the lowest CO2 emitter.

Third-gen Prius outputs just 89 grams of CO2/km and uses less fuel than every other car on the market – 60.3 mpgUS combined on the ADR (Australian Drive Cycle).

Drive an environmentally sound car without sacrificing space, comfort or performance.

The third generation Prius has better performance than its predecessor thanks to an improved Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) system. This technology will also be used on the upcoming and locally produced Hybrid Camry arriving in early 2010.

It's interesting to note that none of the five-star performers in the Green Vehicle Guide are diesel vehicles even though their fuel consumption is quite good. The reason being is diesel vehicles have substantially higher smog-forming emissions than a comparative gasoline or LPG vehicle.
