The wife and the kid have high mileage vehicles a 2007 Accord 4 cyl and Kia something or a nother. both with a K&N filter but I need something to do some pulling of a camper with a upgrade next year.
I was looking for around 5k pounds of pulling power and got a 2008 base Toyota Tundra with 2wd and the small 6cyl. Added a K&N filter to the beast and did my first camper trip.
Had to trade in my 4cyl tacoma from the factory recall and needed to trade up for next years camper upgrade.
Now pulling a 2500 pound Travel star pop up to Hearshey park Penn from From new york.
Worst mileage 15 mpg best 20 averaging around 17 towing with lots of hills.
As far a a commute here in the Mid-Hudson valley driing is probably very different from what you get in other areas. For example you would not normally see you next signal light much less ttwo of them to try to time lights and that sort of thing.
Wow, averaging 17 mpg while towing anything with anything in hilly areas is pretty decent. The Tundra V-8 is 4 liters, I think - decent sized and obviously efficient.
