I drive a 2005 honda civic 5 speed... I drive 110 miles per day round trip. My drive is through NJ, so that in itself poses a million problems, but I do alright so fr. I do consistantly get better mileage than the sticker suggested.. I get about 40... sometimes less sometimes more. One issue I deal with is a lot of stop and go traffic and construction...
I am looking for some tips for a complete newbie who has prided herself on great mileage until I learned about all of you!
Some things I do already... I rarely use the brakes... I have mastered almost coasting to a stop in traffic LOL... I am easy on acceleration, and I am anal about my tire pressure. I also tend to ride the draft with trucks when possible...
Are their any tips for driving a stick shift specifically, what are the basic rules? I need to work on the speed limit thing... I am a bit heavy footed, but have been working on paying attention to that!
Is there an easy, straigh forward "how to"? here... I can't seem to find one... I am not a very technical person, so I need simplicity
THANKS! I look forward to saving as much fuel as possible (My car is going on 3 years old and has 85,000 miles on it already! I drive a LOT!)
