Is Xgauge worth it to non-hybrid owners?
Hi all,
I've been paying close attention to the release of the newest firmware for ScanGauge. I see their webpage finally reflects the update info. I missed the FREE update by 3 days! Since it'll cost quite a bit for the update, I just wanted to know if it would be worth it for my non-hybrid. I guess I like the idea of keeping tabs on cost per mile and trans temperature. I'd like to hear from anyone who has received the update.
I also don't like the idea of sending it in and being without it for so long. I'd rather buy another one that already has the new firmware. I kinda wish Linear Logic would offer a download to update the darn thing.

Hi SSixty:
___At 3 days, I might ask for a little good will from Ron and his team. They are really good people but YMMV and there are no promises.
___Good Luck

Re: Is Xgauge worth it to non-hybrid owners?
SSixty,
I'm in the same boat. I don't know whether it would be worth it for me to upgrade. I would probably buy a new unit, send the old one in, and then have two updated units. But I just don't know if it is worth it for me right now. Maybe if the wife let's me drive the Prius again I'll consider it.

I sent mine in for the free upgrade. It took about 1 week for the turnaround time.
I really like being able to see the trip average at the same time as the instant MPG guages.
That way I can tell in seconds if what I am doing helps my average MPG or not.

Thanks, the both of you, for the response. I had forgotten about the side-by-side fe gauges.

Being able to see the trip MPG would be nice. Hmm. Decisions decisions...

I understand it's $25 for the upgrade, but I shipped it to Linear Logic for the upgrade today.

I hope they let me get in as well, I hadn't paid much attention to it (thought it was only for battery monitoring things for hybrids) after I just read that it will do the average as well as the instantaneous fule consumption I really want it!
