Hyundai June 2012 Sales Up 7.8%
Sonata proves it is still the driver within the Hyundai lineup.
Wayne Gerdes - CleanMPG - July 3, 2012
2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid on an All-American Road Trip – $25,850 to start and an easy 35/40 mpgUS city/highway rating makes for one very comfortable road trip car.
The Sonata Hybrid
The 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid arrives equipped with standard Blue Link telematics that provides a host of features accessible through multiple applications whether it be in the car, on your smartphone, or over the web.
For 2012, an optional Leather Package was offered including leather seats, wheel and shift knob plus heated front and rear seats, and auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink and compass. Previously, these features were only available to the fully-equipped Sonata Hybrid buyer.
On the safety front, it is an IIHS “Top Safety Pick” and was top rated by the NHTSA with a 5-star crash test rating.
Room did you say? How about 103.8 cu. ft. that is enough to really take 5 adults to a ball game or other venue of choice…
And off to the ball games we did go
Hyundai June Sales
Hyundai announced it has achieved an all-time June sales record of 63,813 vehicles, up 7.8% over last year’s all-time June record. For the first half of the year, sales are up 10 percent to a record 356,669 units, with retail sales up 13 percent.
Dave Zuchowski, Executive VP of Sales:
Quote:
|
“We expect continued sales growth with help from three recent new additions to our line-up of industry-leading fuel-efficient vehicles: the all-new Veloster Turbo, the Elantra GT and Elantra Coupe.”
|
The all-new Azera continued its strong sales pace resulting in a 350 percent gain over last June. Accent and Sonata saw sales gains of 57 percent and 12 percent respectively, over the same period a year ago.
Elantra sales declined 12 percent as a function of very low inventory levels according to the Hyundai sales release. With just 8,160 Elantra sedans in dealer stock nationally at month-end, there was little they could do about it. Contrary to industry trends this month, Hyundai fleet sales and mix were once again down from last year, to an 11 percent mix for the month and a nine percent mix year-to-date, among the lowest in the industry.

John Krafcik, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America:
Quote:

“June was another month for us to cheer for the Hyundai manufacturing teams and their efforts to keep up with consumer demand, and hard-working dealers for their efforts matching consumers with on-ground and inbound inventory. “With retail inventories of just 28 days, we’re doing our best to meet demand and appreciate the patience of Hyundai shoppers looking to put a new Hyundai in their driveway.”
